Dr. Xiaodong Li is the Co-Chairman of East IP International Ltd. and the President of Beijing East IP Ltd.
Dr. Li received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics, Master of Science in Nuclear Science and Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in Nuclear Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University.
As a senior patent attorney and a patent litigation attorney recommended by the All-China Patent Attorneys Association, Dr. Li excels in various areas of practice, including patent preparation and prosecution, patent reexamination, patent invalidations, patent administrative litigation and civil litigation. Dr. Li also has extensive experience in corporate IP strategy portfolio management, technology transfer for universities and research institutions, IP commercialization, and IP valuation for the purpose of investment and financing.
Dr. Li has represented a large number of Global Fortune 500 companies and leading enterprises in handling their patent prosecution portfolios, as well as disputes. In patent invalidation and litigation cases, Dr. Li is skilled in rigorous technical analysis and comparison. He is well-regarded for his ability to explain technical elements in a clear and understandable manner to judges and examiners, enabling them to make reasonable judgments on the key points of disputes. Notably in this regard, Dr. Li was jointly entrusted by seven telecommunications companies to represent them in patent infringement, patent invalidation, and patent administrative litigation cases before the Patent Reexamination Board and the People’s Courts. One of his cases was recognized as “The First Case of Mobile Commerce IP” and was selected by the Patent Reexamination Board of the National Intellectual Property Administration as one of the Top 10 Typical Cases of Patent Invalidation.
Dr. Li represented a renowned Japanese multinational corporation in a series of patent infringement disputes and patent invalidation cases involving a 337 ITC investeigation in the United States that required simultaneous litigation in Beijing and multiple local courts across China.Dr. Li filed jurisdictional challenges and successfully invalidated the plaintiff’s patents, ultimately succeeding in negotiating withdrawal of legal actions by the plaintiff in China, as well as inthe United States.
Dr. Li has been on the forefront of advocacy and research involving new technologies. Of note in this aspect, Dr. Li advocated for the establishment of a blockchain technology alliance – the Zhongguancun Blockchain Industry Alliance – serving as its first Vice-Chairman.
