Ms. Bian obtained her Master of Laws degree from the University of Southern California, and joined the firm in 2013.

Ms. Bian’s practices focus on trademark, copyright and anti-unfair competition. She has extensive experience in managing clients’ trademark portfolios and advising clients on brand protection strategies.

Ms. Bian represents clients ranging from startups and Fortune 500 corporations to multinational companies in the hospitality, technology, life sciences and other areas.

Ms. Bian has handled hundreds of trademark prosecution matters before the CNIPA, dozens of trademark court appeals and infringement lawsuits before Beijing courts and other courts, as well as administrative complaints before local administrative authorities. Ms. Bian has also successfully handled various domain name disputes and other IP related matters.

Work Highlights

  • Won a court appeal representing Adobe before the Beijing High Court obtaining a favorable judgment recognizing “PHOTOSHOP” as a well-known trademark in China.
  • Won court appeals representing Ritz-Carlton before the Beijing IP Court and the Beijing High Court, obtaining favorable judgments recognizing Ritz-Carlton’s marks as well-known marks and successfully establishing the corresponding relationship between the English mark and the Chinese mark.
  • Representing clients in enforcement actions in China, including trademark oppositions, trademark invalidations, onsite investigations, AIC complaints, online complaints, and various other actions.
  • Representing startup companies in brand protection in China, including defensive applications, copyright recordals, domain name complaints, actions against preemptive registrations, among others.
  • Won multiple domain name complaints under the UDRP policy and CNDRP policy, representing the world leading companies in various industries.
