Ms. Fu obtained her Master’s degree from China University of Political Science and Law, and joined the firm in 2012.

Ms. Fu has extensive experience in advising clients on brand protection strategies and resolving complex IP disputes. Ms. Fu successfully defended the infringement lawsuits initiated by trademark squatters, through trademark administrative procedures and declaratory judgment actions of non-infringement.

Ms. Fu represents the world’s biggest restaurant chain, a leading tire manufacturer and other famous brands in industry, technology, catering, and cosmetics areas.

Ms. Fu specialises in devising IP solutions for her varied clients and has handled hundreds of trademark prosecution cases before the CNIPA; dozens of trademark administrative litigations, trademark infringement litigations before the China Supreme Court, the Beijing courts and other courts; and other IP-related matters such as domain name disputes before CIETAC and ADNDRC.

Work Highlights

Won re-trial cases representing Tommy Bahama before the China Supreme Court, which rendered favorable re-trial decisions by reversing the first and second-instance court decisions. The re-trial decision issued by the China Supreme Court has further clarified judging standards for bad-faith filings.
Successfully represented Maerz before the Beijing IP Court, the Beijing High Court and the China Supreme Court, obtaining favorable judgments affirming similarity between English and Chinese marks.
Successfully represented a world famous restaurant chain obtaining well-known trademark protection for its several core marks before the Beijing IP Court, the Beijing High Court and the CNIPA.
Successfully represented Meitu before the Beijing IP Court, obtaining favorable judgment affirming the well-known status of its core mark MEI TU XIU XIU in Chinese.
Won a series of invalidations representing a unicorn in the filed of driverless before the Beijing IP Court, the Beijing High Court and the CNIPA, removing bad-faith marks registered by squatters and clearing the path for the registration of the client’s own marks in core classes.
Successfully represented Blue Cross Travel before the Beijing IP Court and the Beijing High Court, obtaining favorable judgments affirming the distinctiveness of the applied mark.
Won a non-infringement lawsuit representing a famous cosmetics company before the Shanghai Pudong Court, safeguard the client’s goodwill (selected as a typical case). Also won a series of invalidations and oppositions representing this client, removing pre-emptive registrations while clearing the path for the registration of the client’s own marks in core classes.
